Climate Action

#BCI4COP26

BCI is participating in the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, hosting meetings and a series of side events such as round-tables and panel discussions involving key decision makers in the climate policy landscape.

The COP26 summit aims to bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). BCI is aligned to the UNFCCC Technology Transfer Framework and is driving the deployment of emerging technologies as viable solutions for climate actions.

Climate change presents numerous challenges which BCI is focused on. This includes:
1. Enhancing climate finance flows
2. Facilitating clean energy trading
3. Improving carbon emissions trading and markets
4. Improving the tracking and reporting of emissions reduction

BCI side events at COP26 will be live-streamed via our social media channels. Please check back on this page closer to the COP26 dates for the latest list of events and details on how to watch.

Leveraging Emerging Technology for Climate Change

Location: Bangladesh Pavilion (Blue Zone)
Invite-only.

Science and Technology plays a key role in achieving transformational change. This is especially crucial in the case of climate change. This change includes the adoption of new technologies into existing programs or projects; and upscaling of existing technological interventions for impact enhancement. Adoption of new green solutions can open new markets for innovative technologies that mobilise private sector engagement. A few key digital technologies that climate change programs and projects can leverage are blockchain, Internet of Things devices and emerging software programs and applications.

Green business globally: Green technology solutions for climate friendly and circular business design

Location: EU Pavilion (Blue Zone)
Live stream available here.

It’s been estimated that innovative technologies applied across industries can reduce global CO2 emissions by 86%. We also know that over 80% of a product’s environmental footprint is determined during its design phase. In this event, we ask how a framework can be created under article 6 of the Paris Agreement to incentivize greener business operations globally? How can circularity be ensured across global value chains? How do other markets and the development world view technology transfer?
